Rising young Australian star Aidan Read will spearhead Eurasia Motorsport’s Asian Le Mans Series campaign which gets underway with the opening round on 23-25 November at Shanghai International Circuit.

Aidan, who competed most recently with Vattana Motorsports in the Thai Super Series where he claimed a double pole positions for the team, takes the Pro-seat alongside rookie Nobuya Yamanaka in the #36 Eurasia Motorsport LMP3 in what will be a Silver-Bronze pairing.

For Aidan, his role is to coach and assist ‘Nobu’ throughout the four-round campaign to aid the Japanese driver’s longer term 24 Hours of Le Mans ambitions.

With that in mind, the team has opted for a two-driver line-up, aimed purely maximising the seat time for Nobu. Expectations of class wins remain realistic, but for Aidan – who is still just 19-years of age – the coaching programme brings him full circle from his own debut with Eurasia just a few seasons ago.

Aidan – no stranger to LMP3 equipment – competed alongside Nobu earlier in the season in the China Endurance Series, and the pair have put together a comprehensive test programme with Eurasia Motorsport ahead of the Asian Le Mans Series. Aidan will continue to assist Nobu in terms of physical preparation, mental approach as well as data and driving analysis.

“We have been working towards the Asian Le Mans Series in testing this season so I’m looking forward to seeing how we perform in a number of measures,” said Aidan. “I am excited to be back in endurance racing after focussing on GT3 sprint for the last two seasons.

“The car is a Pro-Am line-up and I have been l have been coaching Nobu since February. Progress has been continuous and consistent, and we are well poised to start the season. Testing has been beneficial for the whole outfit. We are familiar with all the tracks and have made significant development in car setup.

“One of my personal targets is to put in my best single lap performances of the year, as I believe that Eurasia will be in a competitive position in LMP3. The key for the endurance races is to run consistent, efficient and problem free stints. This will enable us to set a reference and make progress as a team throughout the season.”

The championship gets underway with practice on the Friday ahead of qualifying on Saturday and the 4H race Sunday.
