POYNTING HAS HER FIRST TASTE OF F3

Aussie Racing Car driver Charlotte Poynting had her first taste of a Formula 3 car today at Phillip Island, beginning her maiden voyage in a single seater car and just a week out from her W Series (Womans series) test in Austria.

“What an incredible day, I jumped into Tim Macrow’s Formula 3 at Phillip Island which was my first ever time in an open wheeler.” said Poynting on Facebook

“With the expert guidance and machinery supplied by Tim I improved in leaps and bounds throughout the day and ended up with some really decent results, boosting my confidence levels massively for the W Series qualifier coming up in Austria this weekend! “

“I adapted well and absolutely loved driving the F3! Hopefully I’ll be spending a lot more time in one of these cars soon” she said.

Macrow commented on Social Media: “(We) Had our first day today with Charlotte Poynting in my new for 2019 DriveF3 Dallara. For a first run in an open wheel car she did an impressive job, and will give her a massive leg up in Austria this week for the W Series tryouts.”

“Throughout 2019 I’ll be conducting test days in our updated, full FIA spec paddle shift Dallara at Phillip Island for perspective open wheel drivers looking to progress up the ladder and for experienced drivers who just want to drive a cool car! Day comes with expert coaching, data analysis and on board camera”. he said.

All the W Series qualifiers – being 50-60 drivers whose applications were accepted to enter the selection process for the first ever W Series season will assemble at the Wachauring, Melk, for three days of intensive appraisal.

A comprehensive programme will see a series of tests involving all aspects of a racing driver’s skill-set, not only the driving itself but also physical fitness, mental aptitude, psychological and psychometric testing, communications/media/PR skills.

David Coulthard, who is one of the Directors of W Series will also be a judge at the first test.

The W Series test a private event – not open to fans or journalists,  it’ll be a crucial and challenging test for all the W Series qualifiers, whatever they’ve raced in the past, and they must be able to focus on the tasks they’ll be given without distraction of any kind.
