Supercars Champion James Courtney returns this Wednesday night as a wildcard in the BP All Stars Eseries.

The 2010 title winner announced he was leaving Team Sydney following the Superloop Adelaide 500 after one round with the team, although has flagged his intention to return to the grid in an unknown capacity when racing returns in the future.

Wednesday’s three online races will be staged at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the home of the Belgium F1 Grand Prix.

The 39-year old has plenty of experience in Europe, he was World Junior Karting Champion in 1995 and world Formula A Champion in 1997.

He was British Formula Ford champion in 2000 and broke the record for winning the most Formula Ford races in one season. He drove for the Jaguar Junior Formula Three team in 2001 and was also a test driver for Jaguar’s Formula One team.

He returns to race alongside some familiar Supercars faces on Wednesday night, using a #44 Holden Commodore with a Boost Mobile livery in the virtual racing series.

The #44 is Courtney’s original racing number in karting and Europe. He says he may continue to use #44 when racing resumes after COVID-19 restrictions.

“Very happy to back on track this week behind the wheel of the #44 Boost Mobile Commodore,” Courtney said.

“I’ve been practicing on my Next Level Racing simulator since the Eseries began so will be interesting to see how I go against some familiar competition.

“The eseries has been great to watch, I’ve been itching to get back into it.

“Spa is a very technical circuit plus this week there is a new format, so I think it will be a great night of racing.

“I’ve raced in Europe before, but not from my lounge room so will be interesting to see how I go, really looking forward to testing myself in a Supercar again.”

Courtney is the fifth and final wildcard announced to take to the grid in Wednesday’s fifth round of the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries. He will join F1 star Lando Norris, Red Bull Junior Racing rising star Jack Doohan and Dunlop Super2 rookies Broc Feeney and Jayden Ojeda.

Qualifying for the fifth round will begin Wednesday night at 6:00pm AEST and will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports 506 before racing begins at 7:00pm.

From 7:00pm, racing will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, Sky Sports (NZ) and 10 Play.
Online fans from around the globe can watch races via the Supercars’ Facebook Page, Supercars’ Teams Facebook Pages and Supercars Twitch and YouTube channels.

10 Bold will show a full replay of Round Four on Saturday afternoon from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.
