Trackhouse Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen won the Busch Light Pole Award in Saturday’s qualifying session for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Naval Base Coronado.
Van Gisbergen captured Trackhouse Racing’s second pole award of the season, and eighth as an organization since forming in 2021. It marked van Gisbergen’s sixth Busch Light pole in his 67 Cup Series race career.
The New Zealand native logged a lap time of 134.788 seconds, at 90.809 mph, around the 3.4-mile circuit.

“It’s amazing to get the first pole here at San Diego,” said van Gisbergen. “Red Bull Chevy is really good and the team made good improvements from yesterday. The course is tough, I’ve said it a couple of times. It’s your first lap of the day and there’s three, four, five corners you’re probably going through for the first time of the day as your qualifying lap starts.”
Trackhouse Racing drivers Connor Zilisch earned the eighth starting spot, Kevin Magnussen 21st and Ross Chastain 23rd for the 75 lap event at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego.

PRIME will broadcast Sunday’s race at 4 p.m. ET. (5am Monday AEST)
