BRABHAM RETURNS TO THE PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE IN UTAH

After his GT3 debut in Portland last month, Matt Brabham is back in the DeVilbiss Mercedes AMG with CRP Racing in the SprintX finale at the Utah Grand Prix (11th and 12th of August)

The 2016 Indy 500 competitor is partnered with Michael Cooper, who has multiple class championship wins in the Pirelli World Challenge.

Brabham’s GT3 debut was a valuable learning experience that he enjoyed with the CRP Racing team in Portland.

The team finished fourth in the first race on the Saturday of the event, and were climbing through the field on Sunday, when Brabham’s co-driver was caught in an incident with a backmarker that prematurely ended their race.

While Brabham’s first taste of GT3 racing came in Portland, earlier this year Matt was part of the Bathurst 12 hour class winning GT4 team.

Brabham paired with Tony Longhurst and Aaron Seton, gaining some valuable GT4 experience at the Bathurst 12 hour with The Boat Works Racing BMW M4.

Last month Longhurst announced that he would provide an outright GT3 drive in the 12 hour for both of the third generation racers in 2019.

This month Brabham is also looking to defend his lead in the Stadium SUPER Trucks championship at Elkhart Lake, where the category supports the Xfinity Series (August 23-25). Brabham was runner up in the championship last year by one point to Paul Morris but has held the points lead since March in 2018.

Brabham’s 2018 campaigns are supported by DeVilbiss, the Preston Group, Gale Pacific, Coolaroo, The Boat Works, PIRTEK and the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, of which he is a proud ambassador.

”I’m very excited and grateful to be called up again by Nick Short and Devilbiss,” said Brabham.

“It has been invaluable for me to be a part of the team, gaining experience and seat time in GT3 racing.

“I have learnt a lot being thrown in the deep end and have much more to learn. Utah is an awesome track and I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge and building on from the last race.

“I’m feeling more comfortable and more confident in the car and believe we can come away with a great result.”
