YELLOW CARS ARE FAST! A WINNING WEEKEND IN TOWNSVILLE

The Shell V-Power Racing Team transporter had some extra freight on board when it came home from the Townsville 500 – and we’re not talking about the Minions that joined us trackside!

Our bright yellow cars, in honour of the Minions & Monsters Blind Box Bag Buddies available in Shell Reddy Express and OTR around the country, proved a huge hit in North Queensland, both on the track and off it.

Brodie was fast throughout the weekend, heading opening practice and starting from the front row in all three races. Two of those were on pole position, taking his season tally to six and extending his lead in the annual Pole Champion Award stakes.

That pace was stymied on the Friday by a slow getaway, while Saturday’s challenge hit a hurdle with a cross-threaded wheel nut in Car 17’s first pitstop. But everything went smoothly on Sunday for Brodie to take an emphatic victory, his sixth of the season and the 17th of his Repco Supercars Championship career. Fittingly, he celebrated the triumph with his first burnout in Shell V-Power Racing Team colours!

Rylan enjoyed a milestone moment of his own in Townsville, claiming his first Top 10 Shootout berth on Saturday with the seventh-fastest time in qualifying. He converted that to 10th on the grid – a career best – only to have Car 38’s left-front antiroll bar blade break in the early laps; he salvaged an impressive 17th-place finish. That backed up another 17th-place finish on the Friday after being roughed up on the first lap.

The opening tour was unkind to him again on Sunday when he found his path blocked by a multi-car crash at Turn 2, which forced him to turn a 90-degree right-hander into a 270-degree left-hander! Resuming last, he used fresher tyres and clever strategy to move his way forward to claim a weekend-best 15th-place finish, despite having to save fuel throughout the final stint after not getting the full amount in during his final stop.

Joining Rylan in the garage across the event was Tony D’Alberto, who spent the weekend embedded with the Car 38 crew as part of preparations for the upcoming Ryco Enduro Cup.

The results moved both our drivers up the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship standings: Brodie is now third just 187 points off the lead, and Rylan sits 19th and third among the five rookies on the grid.

We also send our best wishes to team mechanic Charlie Blanshard, who underwent surgery after sustaining a finger injury during a pitstop in Friday’s race. Get well soon, Charlie!
