There’s some work to do overnight for the Brad Jones Racing crew after a tough Saturday race in Townsville.

While there were some improvements over yesterday and the team believes that the cars have a decent race pace, there’s a lot more to learn and action ahead of the final race of the weekend.

Race 21

Laps: 68

  • Macauley Jones (#96 AlphaTheta Racing GR Supra) qualified 21st
  • Andre Heimgartner (#8 R&J Batteries GR Supra), qualified 22nd
  • Cameron Hill (#14 Dare Racing GR Supra) qualified 23rd
  • Heimgartner felt a bit more comfortable in the car today, finishing 16th. After a tough qualifying session he was able to move forward in the race but the crew are still looking to get more out of the R&J Batteries GR Supra.
  • The #96 side of the garage will be doing more homework to night, looking to find some more pace in Jones’ car.
  • Hill was a victim of a Turn 1 incident, which inflicted a considerable amount of damage to the Dare Racing GR Supra. The crew were able to do some quick fixes during his first pit stop but the #14 fell multiple laps behind.

“Overall, not a terrible day. Just struggling for speed and struggling for a better direction. So I think at the end of that one we may have got something. Just came into a bit of a window, so hopefully for tomorrow we can tune it in the right direction. But at the moment we’re just struggling with what direction to go and the feeling we need from the car to be fast.”

“My day was bad today. We qualified down the back and then really unfortunate to have a bingle at the first corner which pretty badly damaged the race car. So, from there it was a long old day. We can only look forwards and we will try again tomorrow.”

“Tough day today. I feel like we’re having a bit of a struggle with the balance and just need to sort of rethink and have another crack tomorrow. But we’re just having a bit of a battle at the moment. We’ll press on tomorrow.”
