Ranger Lifting, a NSW-based lifting and rigging company, has entered a strong team to compete in this year’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
It will see regular Aaron McGill will swap his regular ride – a 50-year-old, 700 horsepower XW GTHO Touring Car Masters racer – for another Aussie built Falcon in the form of a Ford / FPV GT-F for the upcoming production car classic.
Tickets, camping and corporate tickets are on sale for the 2021 event now – just click the links to purchase online.

McGill will pair with experienced Production Car racer Michael Caine for the Easter event, giving the team a wealth of Bathurst enduro experience.
While Caine has multiple Bathurst 12 and 6-hour race starts to his credit, McGill is the record holder for the most starts in Dunlop Super2 – and tackled the Mountain recently in his Falcon TCM car.
The Ranger FPV GT-F, originally built by Racer industries, has had a complete refresh in time for this year’s event.
The GT-F was the last Aussie-built Ford muscle car and will wave the Aussie flag against a 60-plus field this year.
Though one of the heaviest cars in the field, the big Ford is also one of the most powerful on the grid.
“Steve said to us, he wants everything replaced that may bring us undone – that’s when I was most worried about my seat in the team!” McGill said.
“Seriously the car is totally rebuilt, no stone unturned. We’re taking a long-game approach to the race, with reliability the focus ahead of outright speed.
“We simply have three targets: firstly to finish, secondly to focus on our class and finally, if we are ticking those boxes, we will look to where we are in the outright dash in the final run to the flag.
“My main concern is remembering I’ve got two extra gears, 200 less horsepower and bigger brakes than the TCM beast. It will take a few laps to teach this old dog those new tricks.
“This event echoes what Bathurst truly represents, big powerful fast cars, mixing with little class cars all fighting their own class battles, all the while at the mercy of the mountain.”
Ranger’s managing director, Steve Thacker, is a team owner and also a major sponsor.
“I’m excited at the prospect of being involved in the resurgence of class and production racing at Mount Panorama. It’ll be racing like it used to be,” he said.
A number of Ranger’s industry partners including Blacksnake, Skylotec and Agility Financial Service also feature on the Falcon GT race car.
The 2021 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will be contested across the 2-4 April weekend and will be broadcast live on the screens of Seven on Saturday and Sunday.
