Race 30 – Position 2 ?

James Moffat and Mostert’s weekend appeared to be derailed in Race 28, when Moffat lost control at the exit of Turn 1 on a wet track damaging the car and finishing P25.

However, after starting Race 29 from the back of the field Mostert was able to climb tremendously through the field in wet conditions to take P9 at the flag.

Moffat began Race 30 in the Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang from P8, after a penalty from Bathurst was handed down to the Number 17 car ahead, and ran inside the top ten before handing the car over to Mostert.

Mostert was able to work his way into the top 5 with a stellar strategy and passed Holdsworth for P3 just before the Race leader had a car failure with 10 laps to go.

Mostert crossed the line in P2, which is Mostert’s 53rd career podium and 13th of 2019 and moves Mostert to 5th in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship with the finale in two weeks time. 

“It’s been an absolute nightmare of an enduro campaign for us, Bathurst and then Gold Coast, not even being able to race there. For me, the best part about today and getting a trophy right at the end here is more for Moff. He’s kind of been on the wrong end of the stick because of the accidents throughout the enduro campaign with myself and teammates and qualifying laps, so today was awesome to be able to get a trophy for Moff and thank him for the year.”

Mostert will now prepare for the Newcastle 500 for the final round of the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, to be held on 22 – 24 November with all races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
