EVERINGHAM CHARGES TO A BEST RESULT AT BATHURST
HALF PRICE PARTS Velocity Magazine Media Driver Tyler Everingham’s debut season in the Dunlop Super 2 Series received a massive boost at Bathurst, with a new sponsor and his best result across the course of the weekend.
R&J Batteries were announced as Tyler’s naming rights sponsor for the remainder of the season and it couldn’t have arrived at a better time for the Dubbo local. The previously bare sides of his MW Motorsport Nissan Altima looked brilliant with the predominately red and white signage from R&J Batteries stretched across both sides of his car.
Everingham responded with second fastest time in the qualifying session. His team judged the changing conditions to perfection and had Tyler out on track early to post a competitive time before light rain made conditions impossible for a fast time on slick tyres.

“My pace was good and I had consistent results across the two practice sessions,” Everingham said. “P5 in Practice 1 and P7 in Practice 2 were amongst my best performances for the year. That pace carried through to final qualifying where I ended up P2 and a front row start for the race. The start off of the front row as a rookie at the biggest race of the year was a pretty cool feeling.”
Tyler adopted a mature approach to the race. He maintained his second place throughout the early stage of the race behind teammate and tearaway series leader, Bryce Fullwood. He eventually gave way to the faster cars that had started further down the order and then hovered on the brink of the top 6. Everingham maintained his position in the field throughout the pitstop cycle and posted a personal best time in the 2.07 bracket, which placed him just a few tenths from all bar Fullwood in the top runners.
A top 7 finish looked likely for Tyler as the race drew to a conclusion. He had moved onto the rear of 6th placed Brenton Grove but dropped back when an attempted pass was blocked by the Grove Hire Racing driver. A late incident between Ash Walsh and Jordan Boys at the Chase saw Everingham leap-frog the pair for a career best 5th place finish.
“The highlight of the weekend would have to be qualifying. To get P2 as a rookie and the youngest in the field is pretty special. Sitting on the start looking ahead with no one in front is a moment I’ll never forget,” Everingham exclaimed. “Coming into the weekend I was 14th in the championship but now I am sitting 7th.”
“Any race at Bathurst if you don’t end with a smile on your face you’re not doing it right. Looking forward to heading to Sandown for the next round,” he added.
“A special mention to the MW Motorsport team they gave me a great car and to R&J Batteries for coming on board as the naming rights sponsor for the remainder of the season. The car looks fantastic”.
The next round is the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, the penultimate round for the 2019 Championship, Velocity Magazine will be there for another big race weekend 8-10th Nov.
