Truck Assist TEKNO Racing driver Jack Le Brocq had a character-building weekend at Queensland Raceway, with race results of 22nd and 23rd.

“It was a bit of a tough weekend for us here at Queensland Raceway,” said Le Brocq.

“Nothing really went to plan for us unfortunately.

“Saturday was a tough one, we lost some ground in the pits that we were never able to get back.

“Today we had a few issues through practice, and a bit of a close call with Macauley (Jones) in qualifying.

“In the race we had an extra pit stop with a flat spotted tyre, so it was just one of those weekends.

“So we’re all eyes forward now for The Bend, I’m looking forward to get back there!”

The weekend’s proceedings kicked off with a pair of 30-minute-long practice sessions, with Le Brocq 23rd in each, dialing the car into the track.

Third practice on Saturday morning netted 24th position, which was repeated in knockout qualifying for the opening race.

A strong start by Le Brocq saw the number 19 Commodore jump up into 21st position on the opening circuit, before working through to 17th prior to pitting on lap 12 of 37.

Issues developed with the car after the midpoint of the race, which saw a return to the pits for a second service.

In the run to the chequered flag, Le Brocq picked up two positions to be classified in 22nd.

After being 24th in Sunday’s final practice session, Le Brocq qualified 22nd in a truncated session for the second race, after barely scraping past an errant Macauley Jones while on his hot lap.

A steady opening stint saw Le Brocq drive up to 13th place prior to pitting for the first time on lap 18 of 65.

After stopping for a second time on lap 40 from 11th, Le Brocq suffered a long brake pedal that ultimately resulted in a flat spotted tyre, and a return to the pits on lap 51.

At the finish, Le Brocq was positioned in 23rd.

Following the opening 20 races of season 2019, Le Brocq is now placed 21st in the series point score.

The Supercars Championship now continues at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia from August 23-25.
