GROVE READIES FOR LAST ROUND BEFORE SUPERCUP SEASON

Grove Racing will cross over to Phillip Island this weekend for the third round of Porsche Payce Carrera Cup Australia (April 12-14).

Phillip Island is the site of one of Stephen Grove’s Carrera Cup highlights; the TAG Heuer Pro-Am racer took the outright round victory in the 2014 Pro-Am event when partnering with now-Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin.

This weekend will be Grove’s round last before he commences his 2019 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup campaign at the season-opener in Barcelona, Spain, on May 10-12.

The picturesque Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit will see the Carrera Cup field line-up for its 11th visit to the venue.

One of the best race tracks in Australia, Phillip Island’s 4.4km, 12 Turn layout features undulating, sweeping corners, including famous turns like Doohan Corner, Siberia, Hayshed and Lukey Heights.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Grove said he is eager to get back behind the wheel.

“It’s nice to continue the series in my home state, Victoria, after the Australian Grand Prix,” said Grove.

“Phillip Island is the track we do most of our testing at, so I’m excited to get down there this weekend.

“Going into the weekend, I look forward to building upon the momentum from the AGP and hopefully grabbing a decent result.

“Being the last race before I head off to Europe it will be important to keep learning and understanding the car to try and take some momentum into Supercup.”

The Phillip Island Carrera Cup round supports the WD-40 Phillip Island SuperSprint, with three races on the cards.

Friday will feature a pair of practice sessions, both 25 minutes in length before Qualifying at 15:55 AEST.

Race 1, the Endurance Cup race spanning 24 laps, takes place on Saturday at 11:20 AEST, followed by Race 2 at 14:40 AEST.

The final race of the weekend gets underway on Sunday at 13:05 AEST.

Each of the races will be broadcast Live on Fox Sports Channel 506 and streaming service Kayo, including Qualifying and the second practice session.
