Sydney teenager Daniel Quimby will make the biggest start of his Porsche career this weekend when he lines up for his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship at the Darwin Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway.

The 17-year-old Sydney driver will join the highly competitive Carrera Cup field with McElrea Racing, taking the next step in a racing journey that has already seen him achieve success both in Australia and internationally.

Quimby enters the weekend following a remarkable rise through the ranks, highlighted by his 2024 US Formula 4 Championship title and a dominant 2025 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Class B Championship campaign, where he won every race in class. He currently competes in the Sprint Challenge Pro category with McElrea Racing and has consistently demonstrated the pace required to progress to Australia’s premier one-make Porsche category.

The Darwin event marks the first of three planned Carrera Cup appearances for Quimby in 2026, providing an opportunity to gain valuable experience against some of the country’s best Porsche drivers while continuing his long-term goal of becoming a Porsche factory driver.

“Making my Carrera Cup debut is something I’ve been working towards,” said Quimby.

“To be racing at this level with McElrea Racing is an incredible opportunity. Carrera Cup is one of the toughest categories in Australian motorsport, and I’m excited to challenge myself against the best Porsche drivers in the country.

“Darwin is a fantastic place to make my debut. The goal is to learn as much as possible, keep improving every session and make the most of the opportunity.”

Quimby will race under the McElrea Racing banner, one of Australia’s most successful Porsche teams, with a proven track record of developing young talent and winning championships in both Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge competition.

The Darwin Triple Crown is expected to attract a large national audience, with Carrera Cup racing alongside the Supercars Championship at Hidden Valley Raceway.

Daniel Quimby’s Carrera Cup Australia debut takes place at Hidden Valley Raceway, Darwin, from 19-21 June 2026.
