SUPERCARS TO BE INDESTRUCTIBLE ON CHARLOTTE OVAL
MEDIA RELEASE/Supercars – Image: supercars.com
Drivers will switch on the “no damage” setting for tonight’s opening race of the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries to be held at the famed Charlotte NASCAR oval circuit.
With damage off in iRacing, the cars in the session are indestructible. There will be no damage from collisions of any kind and car performance will not be adjusted for any damage that would normally result from an impact.
That means anything could happen when Supercars hit an oval circuit for the first time in the Eseries.
The no damage setting will be applied to the opening qualifying session and the opening race of the night, both to be held at Charlotte.
A second qualifying session will be held at Daytona’s Roval, to set the grid for Race 22.
The Daytona road course will host the second and third races of the evening, with the grid for the finale determined in order of points accrued through the first two heats.
Damage will be turned back on for all sessions at Daytona.
The winner of the first two races of Round 7 will be awarded 75 points. In the final race of the evening at Daytona, the winner will be awarded 150 points.
Qualifying will begin tonight at 6pm AEST and will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports 506 before racing begins at 7pm.
From 7pm, racing will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, Sky Sports (NZ) and 10 Play.
Round 7 format
18:05-18:20 – Qualifying 1, Charlotte Speedway (no damage)
18:30-18:50 – Qualifying 2, Daytona road course
19:15 – Race 21, Charlotte Speedway, 35 laps/18 mins, one compulsory stop (no damage)
