ONE HARD LUCK STORY TO EMERGE FROM THE TFH TA2 MUSCLE CAR SERIES
There was more than one hard luck story to emerge from the TFH Muscle Car Series – presented by Maritimo Luxury Yachts Endurance Round at Queensland Raceway.
Perhaps none more so than that of Ben Bargwanna, Clay Richards and the Hangcha supported Mustang.
A solid effort in qualifying had the car amongst the thick of the action in Race 1, with Clay Richards bringing the car home in an excellent fourth place finish, in just his second TA2/Trans Am meeting.

Ben Bargwanna hoped to go even better in Race 2.
A moment just ahead changed everything.
Contact between three cars on the exit of Turn 1 brought chaos as the field swerved to avoid a bigger incident.
Ben was amongst a group of drivers who took to the grass on driver’s left to stay well clear of any carnage.
And then it happened.
From the dust emerged Brock Paine in his Camaro. The sky blue # 33 Seedat Accounting machine speared into the side of Bargwanna’s car.
It was the worst possible place to hit.
Whilst cosmetically the car looked quite okay, the heavy impact destroyed mounting points for the rear axle and suspension points on the left rear of the car.
That brought and end to Saturday’s racing as the team worked throughout the evening to weld a replacement mount to the chassis and replace the damaged components.
It seemed that Ben Bargwanna would finally get to race on Sunday morning as the car was finally more-or-less back in one piece.

As the field fired up to exit the pitlane, the team encountered an electrical issue that simply couldn’t be resolved in the short time before the race.
Clay Richards had a second race for the weekend when the car finally rolled back out for Race 5. Despite a small braking issue mid-race, Clay showed the potential in the Hangcha Mustang with another top 5 finish, just ahead of Paul Morris.
With an abundance of green tyres, the team were somewhat guarded as the car made its way to the grid, but held some hope for a successful end to the weekend with family and sponsors alongside.
But there was one last gremlin in the works.
A power steering issue brought the #97 into the pits after the opening laps, bringing a premature end to a weekend that showed plenty of promise and little reward.
