Well, the season has certainly started well for the Replica Tourers Trophy Series (RTTS) with some more great news coming out of the popular Queensland based category.

Following on from the early season announcement of it’s new naming rights sponsor for Season 2025 in Rubbercraft Tyres Australia, RTTS set a milestone entry list of 38 cars for Round 1 of the Queensland Racing Drivers Championship (QRDC) on April 11-13 held at Queensland Raceway.

With the milestone trends continuing for the category, RTTS will be heading south this week to once again join the Hi-tec Oils Super Series as a support category for the Sydney Sundown event at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMP) held on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st May. This event marks the first time the Queensland based category has ventured south of the border and what an event it’s going to be for them with 33 cars already locked in!

Category Manager and series CEO Brian Smallwood commented “When we were first approached to be part of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series again we of coarse said yes as it’s been such a great series to be part of. While we were delighted to be offered a slot on the Sydney Sundown card, we certainly did not know at the time just how many of our drivers would embrace travelling to SMP, but now the proof is in the fact we are looking like being the largest grid at the event with over 33 cars! This just shows how popular the category is becoming nationally and we have been inundated with support from fans of the series in NSW with the announcement of us coming down”.

While the majority of drivers attending are regulars, RTTS put a call out to NSW drivers with compliant cars from other series if they would like to join them. This has brought several competitors with good history to try the RTTS formula from APC, NSW IPRA, Australian Stock Cars and Legend Cars. One very notable addition to the grid for this round will be well known Production Car (and 12hr) campaigner Hadrian Morrall. Fresh of the back of his 3rd place in Class A2 (8th Outright) at the recent Bathurst 6hr, Hadrian will add a great wild card in his proven Mach 1 Mustang to the RTTS 5lt class.

RTTS’s new naming rights sponsor for Season 2025 Rubbercraft Tyres Australia (RTA) will also be bringing their stunning DTM replica E36 BMW on top of the already fielded VL Commodore to run at SMP. Speaking with RTA representative Simon Anthonisz, he was excited to be driving with RTTS for the first time “ Our season so far with Replica Tourers has been brilliant with the category association being a great asset to our brand. Having the ability to now also run our BMW with them with be fantastic” It’s been a very hectic start to the season for the motorsport tyre supplier with the Sydney Sundown round being their second event at SMP is two weeks. Simon Anthonisz comments “ Yes its be hectic for sure with us at SMP only last week end supporting teams in the Sydney 300 endurance race. The tyres are performing well on track and we are looking forward to being at SMSP as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series round for sure”.

You can catch all the action of the Sydney Sundown event live on Friday and Saturday on SBS Viceland, Kayo and Fox Sports from 5pm and live stream from 2pm each day.
