SERGIO PEREZ HAS ANNOUNCED THAT HE HAS PARTED WAYS WITH THE RB RACING
A thinking piece… from our editor
From the left field department.Or let’s throw out a completely unfounded and radical idea…
Sergio Perez has announced that he has parted ways with the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team for 2025.
It ends a saga that has been played out throughout the 2024, one which claimed Perez, but also Daniel Ricciardo back in September.
Ricciardo has recently been linked to a possible drive with the new for 2026 Cadillac Formula Racing Team, with reports that the hugely popular Australian holds a significant public interest in the United States. The combination of his mass appeal and vast experience in Formula One, would prove invaluable to a fledgling team, albeit with the backing of General Motors itself.

That rumour has been shut down by many, including insiders within Daniel’s own group.
So where does that leave Cadillac in the search for an experienced F1 driver?
With the likes of Colton Herta, Logan Sargeant and Jack Crawford – an Aston Martin driver development participant, possible candidates for a second seat, the team needs a blend of youth and experience.
So does that open the door for Sergio Perez?
A proven race winner and part of the Oracle Red Bull Racing success in recent years, could the Mexican make a return to Formula One when the new era of regulations, and Cadillac’s debut, take effect in 2026?
Perez has an immense following in his native Mexico, which extends throughout much of the United States as well.
It could also provide a marketing coup in the battle between General Motors and rivals Ford for market share in motor vehicle sales.
Ford also enters Formula One from 2026 as the powertrain provider to the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team as well as Visa Cash App RB.
Not even a rumour right now, but given that Perez himself said in the press release which announced his departure could there be something of a hint in those words; “A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for your unwavering support every day. We’ll meet again soon. And remember…Never give up,” Perez was quoted.
