Team 18 are proud to reveal Scott Pye’s #20 Seiko 5 Sports Holden ZB Commodore for the commencement of the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship this weekend.
Founded in 1881, Seiko is one of the world’s leading watchmakers, standing the test of time with their extensive range of elegant and high-performance watches.
Seiko has been one of the longest-standing partners of Team 18. Having first joined the team through their subsidiary brands Pulsar, 2022 will mark their ninth year with the team and the launch will coincide with the release of their brand new Seiko 5 Supercars watch.
The striking black, white and red livery also features major support from Toyota Forklifts and Nulon.
The #20 Seiko 5 Sports Supercar also welcomes returning team partners Hino Trucks, Yuasa Batteries, Mondiale VGL, Goodyear Fleet, Kenworth Trucks, Paclease, Barry Bourke Motors, Manitou, Waverley Forklifts, ELWD Workwear, Taubmans, Bell Collision, Super Spill Solutions, D2N Technology, Ball & Doggett, King Springs, K&N Filters, Bolle Safety, Air Allied Sales, Credence Insurance, Ozwide Joinery, Styleprint and Out There Branding.
The livery was created by renowned designer Nick Moss and brought to life by PPG paint and Ball & Doggett vinyl.
Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt is extremely proud to reveal the major backing from Seiko for the commencement of the season and is anticipating this year to be a standout for driver Scott Pye.
2022 will mark Pye’s 10th year as a main-game Supercars driver and his third season with Team 18. Pye last year agreed to a two-year extension to his stay with the team and is focussed on kicking the year off on the front foot.
Pye heads to Sydney Motorsport Park off the back of a successful pre-season test at Winton Motor Raceway last week as he enters this season with a new race engineer in Richard Hollway.
The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship gets underway this weekend on March 4-6 with the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight to be shown live on Channel 7 and Fox Sports.
Yuki Suganuma, Seiko Australia Managing Director
“We are thrilled to bring the Seiko 5 Sports Supercar to the opening event in Sydney to help launch our new Limited Edition Supercars watch.
“Our partnership with Charlie [Schwerkolt] and Team 18 goes from strength to strength and we hope the fans love both the car and the watch as much as we do.”
Charlie Schwerkolt, Team Owner – Team 18
“It’s seriously exciting to unveil the Seiko 5 Sports Supercar for the start of the 2022 season in Sydney.
“Seiko came onboard nine years ago as one of the foundation partners of our team with Pulsar and it has been such a valuable and successful partnership over that time.
“All the stars aligned to bring this together with the launch of the new Seiko 5 Sports Supercars Limited Edition watch, it’s a step forward in performance and presentation reflecting exactly what we are about here at Team 18.
“Scotty is fired up to get back on track and he’s ultra-committed to the task ahead of us to be a consistent challenger this year.
“The team left the test at Winton with a wealth of knowledge to take into the first couple of rounds and we’re ready to take up the fight in Sydney, bring it on!”
Scott Pye, driver – #20 Seiko 5 Sports Holden ZB Commodore
“The number 20 Seiko 5 Sports Supercar looks fantastic and I’m really excited to have Seiko on board. I got to work closely with them over the past couple of years and and they’re a longtime partner of Team 18 so for me to have it on the side of the car is fantastic and there are a lot of great sponsors on the car that have continued to be a partner of the team this year.
“To tie in with the launch of the new Seiko Supercars Limited Edition Watch is really cool and they’re a very iconic brand in the sport through their partnership with Supercars and our team, so hopefully we can do them proud at the first event of the season.
“It’s crazy to think I’m already entering my third year with the team, it’s gone so fast. I’m really enjoying working with everyone and the progress we have made has been crazy. Our first season was fantastic, second season was a bit tougher but we’ve had some good upgrades on the car and Charlie [Schwerkolt] is really investing in this team so I’m excited by our future together and I think this year is going to be our best yet.”
“If anyone knows me and I was asked to design a race car it would look like this. Black and white, it can’t get much tougher than that and to throw some fast red on there, I think it looks pretty cool and I’m excited to get behind the wheel and hopefully it is as fast as it looks.”
