2021 BATTERY WORLD AUSSIE RACING CARS SERIES CONCLUDED

For 20 years, Aussie Racing Cars have contested the Championship over 7 rounds taking in all of Australia and New Zealand’s best race circuits. In its 21st year, 2020 with COVID 19 wreaking havoc around the world, just one event was run, The Mount Panorama 500.
2021, and things were looking better, the category welcomed Battery World as naming rights partner and Yuasa as the official battery and once again headed to the spiritual home of motorsport, Mount Panorama Bathurst for round 1 of the Championship. A bumper field of 36 cars took to the mountain, round 1 of a planned 6 round series which was due to conclude on the streets of Surfers Paradise at the Gold Coast 600 in December.
“At that point we all thought COVID was behind us, who would have known that round 2 in Tasmania would be delayed a week, and while Sydney went ahead as scheduled the remaining 3 Super Series events for 2021, all cancelled due to COVID outbreaks around the country”, said Brad Ward the category manager.
And so 2021 had shrunk from 6 to 3 events placing the converted ARC Championship Trophy in the balance.
For 20 years, the ARC Champion had been decided over 7 rounds, so with only 3 races run this year the category won’t award the Championship trophy.
Although there’ll be no inscription on the Championship Trophy, there is no doubt that we witnessed some hard-fought racing across the events we were able to run including Mount Panorama, Symmons Plains and Sydney Motorsport Park and so we recognise and congratulate the leading drivers of 2021:
Congratulations to our Highest Point Scorers of 2021
Championship: Kody Garland (121.5 points)
Masters Cup: Adam Clark (52.5points)
Gold Cup: Craig Thompson (57.5 points)
Women’s Cup: Charlotte Poynting (88 points)
Rookie: Tom Hayman (53.5 points)
[Rookies in 2021 will not lose rookie status for 2022 due tonot yet completing a full series]
The leading drivers of 2021 will be presented with special trophies in recognition of their driving achievements this year in a virtual trophy presentation to take place in late November. Clips from the presentations will be available for viewing on the categorys official website and Facebook after the event.
We are planning a big year for 2022, stay tuned.
