The opening day of practice for the fourth round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series left the HMO Customer Racing team optimistic about their prospects for the weekend.
Nathan Morcom and Josh Buchan posted competitive times in the second practice session, after both encountered mechanical issues earlier in the day. Duvashen Padayachee was satisfied with his performance after posting a best time within a second of teammate Morcom.

Nathan Morcom (Car #11)
Practice 1. 9:21.6257 (22nd) Practice 2 1:35.0894 (6th)
“Practice 1 didn’t start out they way we’d like. I had a small problem on my first lap out of the pits and decided to park it back in the garage. We then elected to change the gearbox as more of a precaution. The boys did a great job to get it done in plenty of time for
Practice 2 and it was a relief to have the full session to try a few changes. We were 2nd fastest at one stage and finished in P6, which was more or less where we expected to be. We will throw some new tyres on the car tomorrow for qualifying and see how we go.
Josh Buchan (Car #30)
Practice 1. 1:41.1429 (21st) Practice 2 1:35.5877 (12th)
“Obviously I would have liked some more running in the first practice session. It wasn’t about laps, as I’ve done plenty of them around here. It was more about trying a few things in the car to see if we can gain a bit more speed. Other than that I was happy overall. We know that green tyres are worth heaps in terms of lap times. There is sill some room for improvement with the balance of the car and hopefully we can address that overnight.”
Duvashen Padayachee (Car #130)
Practice 1. 1:37.0767 (14th) Practice 2 1:36.3553 (16th)
“It’s good to get back in the car after Bathurst.” P2 went okay but I guess I found a few aspects of my driving in this car that I can improve. Nathan and Josh had a good run in the second session so that gives me some useful data to have a look at. We will give the car a tweak for tomorrow and go from there.”
