Ex-Supercars driver Steven Richards’ son Clay, made his debut in the National Formula Ford Championship, having just raced a Formula Ford once before in the Victorian State Series last year.

Steven Richards said with a smile that, “it was a case of learning by being thrown in at the deep end.”

Clay drove well on debut and scored a pair of top 10 finishes. He ended Race 1 in 9th and repeated the result in Race 2, before ending the weekend with an 11th in the third and final race.

His best time over the weekend was a 1.37.7 in the cooler conditions on Saturday afternoon which was around 2 seconds off the best of Thomas Sergeant, who is a vastly experienced Formula Ford racer.
