This Saturday night Rushworth Speedway has two special memorial races for fans to get behind with the visiting SDAV Hot Rods holding their annual Ray Welsh Memorial whilst the 3 Litre Sedans are back for the annual Dave Pollard Memorial race with both races highly sought after victories for the competitors of those classes.

All the local heroes in their Sedans are also on the show with Open Saloons, Production Sedans, Ladies Saloons and Junior Sedans all vying for important club points. In the Ray Welsh Memorial for SDAV Hot Rods, the line-up includes last race meeting winner Kali Hovey, her husband Shannon Meakins, Stan Marco Snr, Dean West, and Russell Hovey amongst others that will hit the race track. The 350ci powered Hot Rods with a body based on the old 1934 Ford is a popular class for fans to watch who love the sound of an eight cylinder engine and the vintage type of look of the car body.

Once again to win the Ray Welsh Memorial means so very much too many of the drivers in the class today as Welsh was a legend of the class over many many years.

In the Dave Pollard Memorial for 3 Litres supported by Dave’s daughter Felicity and her husband Shane with their business Aerodrome Automotive, Bendigo’s Lennie Clark, Shane Simpson, Swan Hill’s Mick Boyle and Goulburn Valley members Daniel Wilson and Ben Naismith are just some of the racers who compete with engines that run at just over 3 litre capacity that are up for the battle to win the memorial. Dave for a long time was Goulburn Valley Auto Clubs sole representative of the class as it travelled around Victoria for various feature events.

It is very hard to look past Clark, however the event should be terrific with all keen to pick up the Memorial win.

Adam Box returns to compete in Open Saloons after winning the last race meeting and this time he will be up against Paul Lamb, Michael Wicks, Jay Nicolaisen and Stephen Hopkins and a great field of other strong competitors. Can Box go back to back?

Mark Cecil starts favourite this meeting in the Production Sedans after winning a fortnight ago. Leigh Jeffery had a great run towards the end of that feature and if he is on song early he could give Cecil some hassle.

Chloe Lamb, Kelly Lamb, Cassie Wicks and Belinda Chalcraft will put on a great show in Ladies competition whilst Josh Cecil hopes to go back to back in the Junior Sedans with Luke Cecil and Daniel Smith in the field keen to get the better of him at the finish line.Racing begins from 4pm on Saturday with entry costs $25 per adult, aged pensioners are $15, kids 12 to 16 are $12.50 each and under the age of 12 is FREE, whilst a family of 2 adults and 2 kids 12 to 16 is $60.
