Vodafone and Ford have joined forces to back a new Mustang on the 2019 Supercars grid.

Ford will supply the Official Safety Car of Supercars for the Championship season in partnership with Vodafone which first backed Supercars Safety and Race Control Cars in 2017. This year marks the second of a new three-year partnership with the sport.

Both companies have a rich history in Supercars, with Ford helping to bring the Ford Performance Mustang Supercar to the 2019 grid and Vodafone backing a number of partners in the past decade.

The striking Vodafone branded Mustang Safety Car was revealed today ahead of the 2019 season launch in Melbourne this morning and the Superloop Adelaide 500 from February 28 to March 3.

Ford and Vodafone will also partner the Race Control and Medical cars for the 2019 season.

Vodafone, which secured multiple Championships and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 victories with Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes, is also the naming rights partner of the Vodafone Gold Coast 600, one of Supercars’ flagship events.

Vodafone Chief Commercial Officer Ben McIntosh said the company was proud to be the naming rights partner of the highly visible safety car program.

“We have a close and long-running partnership with the Supercars. As a business we love the sport and we couldn’t be happier to be involved in what will be a cracking year of action in 2019.”

Kay Hart, President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand said: “The Ranger Raptor Recovery Vehicle, and now the Mustang GT Safety and additional Ford Race Control Cars, will help provide crucial rapid response.

“We’re extremely proud to partner with Vodafone and Supercars with the Mustang Safety and Ford Race Control Cars.”

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said it was an honour to have the two global brands as partners.

“Vodafone is an incredible global brand which recognises the significant reach of Supercars through its broadcast, digital and event platforms,” Seamer said.

The new Ford Vodafone Safety, Medical and Race Control Cars can be seen on track when the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship begins on Feb 28 at the Superloop Adelaide 500.
