FOURTH PLACE IN BAJA 1000 FOR AUSSIES

Australian’s Peter Carr, Brett Comiskey and Daniel Mckenzie have taken 4th place at this years SCORE International 51st running of the Baja 1000.

We caught up with Peter after the event and got his take on this amazing off road race.

“This was the craziest racing I have ever done. The first 30 miles was just nuts. The huge and crazy crowds, the racers seem to think it is a sprint. I must have passed 20 wrecked cars in the first 50 miles. Trucks on their roofs, full sides of cars wiped out.”

“To keep the car on track and out of trouble in the first 40 miles was the key to my stint, and I did have one big scary off. But then I settled it all down and ran a good pace.”

“I then Handed the car over to Brett in perfect condition in about 7th (after starting about 16th). Brett then ran a solid stint a lot of which was isolated from any support. So he had to keep the car together or we would be out. Brett handed the car to Dan in about 5th place.

“Unfortunately during Dan’s stint we developed an issue with our drive belts, which cost us any chance of a podium”.

“But to finish 4th is a great result for a brand new team doing our first Baja together (as last year we ran as part of another team). We know we can win this race!” said Carr
