Australian GT is saddened to hear of the loss of John Tuelan, who passed away yesterday.
John was a vibrant and popular figure among the Australian motor sport community.
A successful businessman and lifelong motor sport enthusiast, John became an avid and successful competitor.
Determined and focused in everything he did, John provided opportunities for Australian drivers to compete internationally.
He was a race winner in the Australian GT Championship, and stood on the Bathurst 24 Hour podium.
In 2004 John won the Trophy Class of the Australian Nations Cup Championship, the precursor to the Australian GT Championship, having won the Group Two competition in 2002.
In 2005 John shared a Porsche with Craig Baird, Marcos Ambrose, and Paul Morris at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the car qualifying on pole and leading the early stages of the race.
“On behalf of Australian GT, its competitors, and the entire Australian motor sport community, we extend our deepest sympathies to John’s family and friends,” said Australian GT manager Ken Collier.
“John was a fabulous individual who contributed much to the sport he loved, and we are immensely proud Australian GT was a part of his life.”
Australian GT (and Velocity Magazine) passes on its deepest condolences to John’s wife, Lynnie, family, and many friends
