Competitors were faced with difficult conditions throughout the morning for the first day of the CAMS NSW Championship round at SMSP. Fortunately the rain stopped, with some sunshine finding a way onto the track as the afternoon progressed.
There were dramas for the Miedecke Aston Martin in Prod Sports with the car a non-starter for the 2 races today. George Miedecke explained that a radiator hose had blown but a spare was in transit from Port Macquarie and they expected to run the enduro on Sunday afternoon. Prod Sports had over 30 entries for the event, with Andrew Macpherson and Brad Shiels, fresh from their Bathurst win, leading the entry list. Rod Salmon had his new livery on his Audi R8 and was joined by a handful of fellow Audi drivers for the weekend.
Other categories included HQ Holdens, Improved Production under 2 litre and over 2 litre, Sports Sedans, Formula Vee and Supersports. Superkarts also feature on the Sunday schedule.
