30 AUSSIE RACING CARS ENTERED FOR THE GOLD COAST 600

Undoubtedly some of the best racing seen this year has been in the Aussie Racing Cars Championship, and thats set to continue this weekend where they will field 30 entrants at the Gold Coast 600 street circuit.

The leaders of the category will be feeling the heat over the course of the weekend with some top line drivers joining the class in the concrete jungle that is the Gold Coast Street Circuit.  Current outright leader Justin Ruggier will be up against Kel Treseder as the two battle for the title, the former has won 4 of the 5 rounds so far, not far behind is one of the youngest drivers in the field in Josh Anderson.

The round will see the return of ex-Supercar driver and Bathurst Champion Paul Morris, plus back for another run is USA Stadium Super Truck driver Bill Hynes, both he and Morris are on double duties in the Aussies and Super Trucks.  Another driver to double up is Gold Coast local Matt Nolan who will also be in both classes.

The 2018 Series Champion is back on track, Joel Heinrich currently sits in fifth place after missing the first round at the Adelaide 500 as he was on Supercars Dunlop Super2 duties.

Emma Clark rejoins the class taking the lady driver count to two with Charlotte Poynting, Clark will be out to beat her husband Adam who is 6th outright going into this event.

Leading the Masters Cup is Leigh Bowler with a pretty good lead over Adam Clark, the Gold Cup sees Johnathon Bloxsom in front from Craig Thompson and the Rookies is being lead by Kody Garland from Brad Woods.

It will be interesting to see which drivers elect to make this round their ‘Joker’ round, this is where their points are doubled from the weekends races.  There is only around 7 of the main stay drivers that have not yet had played their Joker.

This year the Aussie Racing Cars are celebrating 20 years of racing.
