Reef McCarthy has put on a clinic to clean sweep the Formula Vee category at last weekends Round 2 of The Victorian State Race Series.

After taking pole position on Saturday morning the Victorian product went on to win Race 1 by 11.8 seconds, Race 2 by 11.3 seconds and wrap up the feature race on Sunday by just shy of 10 seconds.

This result consolidates his position as Championship leader having won 5 races on the trot after placing 2nd in the opening race of the season.

The young charger contributes his success to hours of preparation before each race meeting to ensure the car is on song. He said “Dad and I spend hours at home in the shed just checking nuts and bolts, dialling in brakes and generally making sure the car is 100% race ready before it hits the track”.

McCarthy says he still has his sights set on a return to the Supercar scene. After a successful debut in Super 3 in 2021 with Image Racing and a tease of Super 2 at last years’ washed out Bathurst event, he hopes to find the funding return to Supercars in the not too distant future.

The next round of the Victorian State Race Series is at Phillip Island 27th-28th May.
