REVEREND GARRY COLEMAN ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY
Motorsport Ministries founder, the Reverend Garry Coleman has been released from hospital and is now back at his family home while he continues in his recovery after suffering a medical episode at the Sydney International Speedway on 18 March 2023.
Garry has been in contact with Velocity Motorsport Magazine to share an update on his health.
He is grateful for the kind thoughts, prayers and best wishes from those throughout his motorsport family and is indebted to the guy above for having his back.
“I am blessed to have had that episode occur at the racetrack where medical teams were within reach,” Garry explained. “I was told that my pulse had dropped to 20 bpm at one stage after I had regained consciousness.”
“It could have happened in the car on the way to the track, or on the way back home,” Garry added. “The consequences of such would have been far worse than 6 stitches to the head and a couple of broken ribs.”
“God told me that it wasn’t time to go home yet!”
Further examinations revealed the nature of Garry’s heart irregularity and a pacemaker was implanted in his chest to reduce the risks of further attacks.
For the immediate future it has consigned Garry to the passenger seat whilst the implant imbeds firmly into his heart, though it hasn’t cancelled plans for Easter services at a local Uniting Church.
Garry has also assured us that the pacemaker has been inserted in line with Supercars technical guidelines.
Everyone at Velocity Motorsport Magazine wishes Garry and his wife Betty and speedy and full recovery.
