MADELINE STEWART GRADUATES FROM ROOKIE SEASON IN SUPER3

As the team began the task of packing the Kumho Super3 Cars away after the final round at Sandown Raceway, HALF PRICE PARTS Velocity Magazine media driver Madeline Stewart stopped to reflect upon a self described “learning year” in the Kumho Super3  category.

When Madeline first looked towards the then named Kumho V8 Touring Car Series, it was seen as an ideal ‘low key’ entry point for Australian circuit racing career. After several visits to rounds of the Virgin Australia Supercar Championship, Madeline and her team signed on for a season with the Brad Jones Racing Team.

Between the deal and the start of the 2019 season, the Kumho sponsored series underwent some major changes. An alignment with the main tier Virgin Australia Supercar Championship saw the series re-named as the Kumho Super3 Series. The association brought overnight interest in the category, as many young drives saw the opportunity it presented as an entry point towards the main game.

BJR have been great this year, they have really helped with my learning process as they have so many experienced and knowledgeable people in the team, Madeline explained. Both Brad and Macauley have been fantastic mentors to me, and my driver coach BD has taught me so many great techniques to take through to next year. Brad has a funny story for every situation which has  definitely helped in those learning phases (when I made mistakes) throughout the year.

Madeline had set high expectations for herself with the aim of a top 10 finish just one of her objectives. She achieved that goal in just her second race meeting at Winton Raceway and has surpassed all expectations with top 10 results in the final 3 rounds of the series.

The year was a huge success for us, Madeline said. Our aim going into the year was to gain as many skills and as much knowledge as possible. This year bought many challenges as we raced in a range of conditions and on a range of tracks which was great for my learning.

As always, Madeline was also quick to thank all who have supported her throughout the year. Id like to thank Freightliner and Alliance Truck Parts for coming on board this year, Id also like to thank VT Advisory and Signal. My biggest thanks goes to my amazing family for their continuous support.

Madeline and her team are well advanced with their plans for next year and will announce their racing program in the near future. At this stage our 2020 plans are yet to be confirmed but Im really excited about our options, Madeline said.
