TYLER EVERINGHAM GRABS SOLID RESULTS AT WET AND WILD TOWNSVILLE
HALF PRICE PARTS Velocity Magazine Media Driver Tyler Everingham left Townsville with renewed confidence, a solid points haul and a straight Nissan Altima after an eventful third round of the 2019 Dunlop Super 2 Series.
Qualifying for the first race brought a disappointing result for Tyler and left him in the midst of the carnage as Will Brown was spun into the path of the field. Everingham managed to avoid contact with the stranded Eggleston Motorsport Commodore but lost ground to the leaders as he maneuvered around the trail of debris and damaged cars. He eventually made his way back through the field to record a top 10 finish.
“The weekend didn’t start out great with P17 in qualifying one, Everingham admitted. “I Managed to avoid the carnage at the beginning of Race 1 and gained valuable passing experience finishing the Race in P8.”
The experience gained from that first race gave Tyler a better understanding of the Townsville street circuit, a venue he had not raced at before. The second qualifying session of the weekend left Everingham in a more competitive 10th for the second and final race of the weekend. A session that Tyler called “A great improvement,” for both himself and his engineers.

Rain began to fall at the edge of the circuit precinct, with turns 1 and 2 damp, while the rest of the track remained relatively dry. Tyler Everingham was determined to finish and grab more points rather than look for an opportunistic move during the first hectic laps of the race on an unpredictable surface. He dropped down the order as he looked to avoid any trouble during the first half of the race and then moved forward as his tyres came up to temperature and gained grip. Tyler recovered to finish just outside the top 10 in 11th place.
The combined results saw him finish the round in 9th overall.
“Race two we had mixed conditions with rain on the circuit at turns 1 & 2 on the first lap, I lost a couple of positions as a result,” Tyler Everingham said. “Managed to get back a couple of spots and finished the session in P11. Finished the round in 9th position overall, gaining some valuable points and experience.”
There is a short turn around for the Dunlop Super 2 field with Round scheduled to run at the next round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship from July 26-28 at Queensland Raceway.
