Monster Energy Racing’s Cameron Waters (No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang) notched his fourth podium of 2019 on Saturday at the Perth SuperNight, finishing third in Race 12. It is the eighth time the 24-year old has stepped on the podium, now in his fourth season full-time in the category.
Will Davison (No. 23 Milwaukee Racing Ford Mustang) was forced to make an early first pit stop due to what was a slowly delaminating left rear tyre, and despite running as low as 22nd, battled back to an eighth place finish thanks to strong pace and durability late in tyre stints. It is Davison’s tenth top ten finish from 12 races to start the 2019 season.

After qualifying 22nd earlier in the day, Lee Holdsworth (No. 5 The Bottle-O Ford Mustang) used an effective strategy and strong race pace to climb some 13 spots in the 84-lap race, finishing ninth for the second time on the weekend.
Chaz Mostert (No. 55 Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang) had aspirations of back-to-back podiums after qualifying third for Saturday’s race, but a failure in an engine component led to the Queenslander’s early exit from Race 12, retiring after 27 completed laps. It is Mostert’s first DNF in over a year, and drops him to fifth in the championship standings.
One-third of the way through its 15 event season, the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship continues May 25-26 at the Winton SuperSprint in regional Victoria.
