Brenton Grove’s Dunlop Super2 Series learning curve continued with top-flight squad Triple Eight Race Engineering at the Pirtek Perth SuperNight.
Western Australia’s Barbagallo Raceway heated up as the Super2 Series took to the track under lights.
The event saw a pair of twilight races, with the lowlight conditions highlighting the captivating sights of glowing brake discs and exhaust flames from the cars.
Although the results on paper were not a standout, Grove says that minor mistakes cost him dearly in such a competitive field.
The 22-year old found himself on the fringes of the top 10 in both qualifying sessions, making progress in the first of the races aboard his Holden VF Commodore.

Friday netted Grove 14th place on the grid for Race 1 that evening, gaining a spot and taking the chequered flag 13th at the end of 26 laps.
Saturday saw him grab 13th in qualifying, however, Grove finished Race 2 in 16th, ending up 16th for the round.
Championship wise, he now has 219 points to his name and sits 18th in the standings.
“Today (Saturday) was tricky as we made a tiny mistake in qualifying that ultimately cost us seven positions, clearly showing the nature of how close the entire field is,” said Grove.
“The mistake put us on the back foot a little bit and then in the race we struggled and were a little bit off.
“Overall though, it was an awesome weekend with the team doing a great job as always.
“It’s a great spectacle to be part of and racing under the lights at night in Perth.
“There’s a lot of positives to take out of the race weekend but we need to re-group and put into place all the things so that we are ready for Townsville.”
The Dunlop Super2 Series will take another lengthy break until Round 3 at the Watpac Townsville 400 in Northeastern Queensland from July 5-7.
