ELECTRIC AUSSIE RACING CAR VS PETROL POWER AT SYMMONS PLAINS

Tasmania local and former ARC national champion Adam Gowans (a local legend) is driving the Local Legends beef jerky petrol Aussie race car and current Supercars co-driver Warren Luff will drive the AusEcar electric car in a special match race.

The cars will roll out from the pit lane around to the grid the Petrol car will start from pole, AusEcar from P2.

The race will be a three lap dash. “We are actually expecting the AusEcar to be faster, but it will be interesting to see!” says Brad Ward Aussie Car category manager.

Adam Gowans was the 2009 Aussie Racing Cars champion and has 20 ARC starts at Symmons with 10 wins, “Adam is considered the 2nd most winningest driver in the category’s history with 34 wins” said Ward.

The local driver has also raced in Carrera Cup and is the son of well known Tasmanian racer Bruce Gowan’s.

The speed comparison/race gets underway this afternoon straight after the second Aussie Racing Car race around 3.10pm and will be repeated on Sunday after the final ARC race.
