LMP3CUP AUS ANNOUNCE CATEGORY MANAGER APPOINTMENT

LMP3 Cup Australia has appointed Tony Manson as the Category Manager.  Manson brings with him extensive event management experience in the Australian Motorsport industry working on events such as Top Gear Live, Ken Block Gymkhana and the Red Bull X-Fighters World Final. He has also held Management roles at AVESCO, Willowbank Raceway, Cup Car Australia (Porsche Motorsport Australia) and a number of high-profile events and race teams in Australia, the USA and in the UK.

He will play an important role in building the Series ahead of its launch in 2020, as well as running the Series once it commences. It will be his role to work closely with series staff and
the ACO management and technical teams to ensure the category maintains consistency with the ACO LMP3 format and so LMP3 series around the world.

For the Series it is another important milestone. The LMP3 Cup Australia has witnessed growing excitement at the debut of LMP3 series racing and is working to anticipate challenges ahead of the first race. Tony will play an important part in helping define the Series regulations in conjunction with the ACO, and to help the teams and drivers in understanding the series and the cars.

We knew it was critical for us to get the right category manager in place, a strong leader who understands motorsport business and management to ensure the LMP3 Cup will deliver on all points for the competitors. “With over 30 years of experience in motorsport, from karting to Supercars via the top levels of European and American racing, Tony’s CV is obviously very impressive and we know his warm and concise approach will be well received in the paddock. We think Tony will prove to
be a great asset to the Series. and we are confident that he is the right choice to lead the category into the 2020 season.”

LMP3 Cup Australia also confirmed that through their strong ACO affiliation, Tony and the rest of the category management and scrutineering team will benefit from extensive training from the ACO directly, specifically during the 2019/20 Asian Le Mans Series to ensure the category is run to world class standards.
