CALAN WILLIAMS – GOOD START AT HAMPTON DOWNS
PRESS RELEASE/Calan Williams – Photo: supplied
Had a very good first day at Hampton Downs, a short, but very challenging, circuit in New Zealand’s North Island.
The conditions were dry and the times throughout the day were incredibly close which promises for some intense, packed racing; and incredibly competitive qualifying.
In the first of the two practice sessions today I finished P6 which was a nice solid start with a 1:01.4.
Then I was really happy with P4 in the 2nd session with a time of 1:00.9.
I will be working hard to continue improving over the weekend and to challenge at the top of this very competitive field.
Tomorrow we have two more practice sessions, the first at 10:40am local time (5:40am Perth) and then the second at 2:00pm (9am Perth). Then we will have the first of 4 races at 4:25pm (11:25am Perth). This first race will be one of the two races missed from last round due to the cancellation of Sunday as a result of dangerous winds. I will be starting the race from P7 with that grid determined by our finishing positions in the first race at Teretonga.
