SUPERUTE DEBUTANTE FLYS TO NZ STRAIGHT AFTER BATHURST RACE

SuperUte Debutante Charlotte Poynting who has this weekend become the first lady driver in the new ECB SuperUte series will race in the final race this afternoon to then hop on a plane and fly direct to Auckland NZ to run in the SsangYong Racing Series Scholarship – a scholarship only for woman and to encourage more women in motorsport.

Poynting has taken to the ute series well in a brand new Toyota Hilux prepared by Sieders Racing and owned by Western Sydney Motorsport, the same team she races for in the Aussie Racing Car series.  With three races this weekend at Bathurst this will help her transition into the SsangYong one make series test.

In 2016 Poynting ran her Aussie Car at Pukekohe when the series ran at Hampton Downs for the last round of their series and the invitational at Pukekohe, so already knowing the circuit will know doubt help her against the Kiwi ladies whom may have already run there.

An announcement came last month, that a SsangYong Scholarship will be run exclusively for women. Each driver will be assessed both on and off the track.  If Charlotte was to win the scholarship it will pay for all entry fees, tyres, fuel, brake pads as well as set up and maintenance of the Ute for the season.

We asked Charlotte what were expectations for tomorrow, ” I’m hoping that the time in the Ute this weekend at Bathurst is going to help me a lot with the SsangYong tomorrow, it’s all come up with in the last week so with Bathurst we haven’t had a lot of time to prepare. I’m really not sure what to expect, I don’t know how many other girls are entered, or what the caliber of racing will be, but I’ll be giving it a real go.”

The ECB SuperUtes have two more races today here at Bathurst.
