Team Thryv | Race For A Cure will take its striking Chevrolet Camaro to Sydney Motorsport Park from 17 to 18 July, with Ben Kavich set to carry the campaign solo in the next TA2 Muscle Car Series round.

For Ben, this will be the next high-speed chapter in a campaign built from family, resilience and a determination to help change the future for people affected by breast cancer.

Team Thryv | Race For A Cure has now raised more than $300,000 for Breast Cancer Trials, turning the Kavich family’s personal experience into a national motorsport platform with real heart and growing impact.

Founded after Toula Kavich was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, Race For A Cure began as one family’s response to a life changing diagnosis. It has since grown into a highly visible fundraising movement, using the noise, colour and energy of motorsport to bring more Australians into the conversation about clinical trials research.

Ben Grice will also be back with the team following the last race, assisting with drive coaching and car setup, as Ben Kavich continues to build momentum in the Camaro.

Ben said, “Sydney is another important step for me in the TA2 Camaro because it asks something different of the driver. Coming out of endurance racing, you are used to thinking across longer stints, traffic, strategy and the bigger race picture. Sprint racing is sharper. The window is much tighter, so you have to be switched on from the moment the lights go out, make every lap count and trust the car underneath you.”

Ben said, “Having Ben Grice back with the team is a big help. He knows these cars, he understands what I need to feel from the car and he can help fast-track the learning around setup, braking, corner speed and race craft.”

Elise Balsillie, Head of Thryv Australia and New Zealand, said the Sydney round gives the campaign another strong platform.

Elise said, “This partnership has real force because it combines a powerful family story with a stage people notice.

“Ben, Toula and Michael have taken something deeply personal and built it into a campaign that people can see, feel and get behind. That is what gives Team Thryv | Race For A Cure its impact.

Karen Price, CEO, Breast Cancer Trials, said, “Every treatment and breakthrough we have made in breast cancer has come from clinical trials.  This is why Breast Cancer Trials is so grateful to Ben and the ‘Race For a Cure’ Team for their unwavering support and fundraising efforts.

“So far, more than $300,000 has been raised through Ben and the team.  This passion and persistence is exactly what it takes to undertake this research and these funds have been put to good use, supporting our clinical trials research.  These funds have contributed to our OPTIMA trial, which discovered that a new gene test may spare many breast cancer patients from chemotherapy  – a discovery we are now exploring for younger (pre-menopausal) women with breast cancer.  We wish Ben and the team all the best for the race in Sydney.”
