The Winmax Australian Pulsar Racing Association (APRA) has announced a major new sponsorship with leading Australian TCR team HMO Customer Racing, marking a significant milestone for the grass-roots circuit racing category ahead of the 2026 season.
The collaboration represents one of the strongest connections yet between an Australian club-level racing category and professional touring car competition.
As part of the partnership, the 2026 APRA Champion will be awarded a test day in a Hyundai TCR car prepared and run by HMO Customer Racing, providing a direct experience of professional-level touring car machinery.
APRA leadership says the agreement validates the category’s growing reputation within Australian motorsport.
“To have a professional team like HMO Customer Racing recognise APRA is incredibly exciting for our members,” said APRA Director Scott Tidyman. “Grass-roots racing is where motorsport begins, and this partnership shows that categories like APRA can genuinely form part of a driver’s development pathway,” said APRA CEO Alex Pirozzi.
HMO Customer Racing is one of Australia’s premier touring car operations, competing at the highest level of TCR competition and developing drivers within professional motorsport environments.
Their involvement signals increasing recognition of APRA as a competitive front-wheel-drive category capable of preparing drivers for higher levels of racing.
Built around affordable Nissan Pulsar race cars, APRA has long positioned itself as an accessible entry point into circuit racing while maintaining close, competitive grids and strong driving standards.
The new sponsorship strengthens that philosophy by introducing a tangible progression opportunity for competitors.
“Many drivers dream of racing professionally but don’t always know where to start,” Commented APRA director Rod Albronda. “APRA provides a place to learn race craft, prove yourself in close competition, and now, through HMO, potentially take a step toward professional touring car racing.” Albronda added.
The initiative highlights the natural alignment between APRA’s front-wheel-drive platform and modern touring car categories such as TCR, where driver skill, race craft and consistency are critical performance factors.
For APRA competitors, the HMO test represents more than a prize, it symbolises recognition from the professional motorsport world.
APRA officials believe the alignment between both organisations will further strengthen participation growth heading into the 2026 season while reinforcing the category’s role within the broader Australian motorsport ecosystem.
