The TCR Australia Series have introduced the Kumho Cup for the 2025 season, with reduced entry costs and tyre incentives designed to draw more of the older generation cars to the grid.

The introduction of the Kumho Cup is designed to allow privateer drivers and teams the opportunity to compete on a national and global stage, while maintaining an attainable budget. Professional outfits are eligible to enter the Kumho Cup, but eligibility will be reviewed throughout the season based on round results.

Since the category’s inception in 2019, the TCR Australia Series has led the way in global TCR competition with a high concentration of second and third generation cars hitting the track. While the latest innovations from manufacturers such as Hyundai, Honda and Peugeot have all experienced success in TCR Australia, the early generation cars have still maintained a high level of competitiveness.

In 2024 alone Garry Rogers Motorsport swept the opening round of the season on their way to five race wins in their first-generation Peugeot 308 TCRs, while Tom Oliphant took a race win and three further podiums in his Hyundai i30N TCR.

There will be six models eligible for the Kumho Cup in 2025, listed below;

  • Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR
  • Audi RS3 LMS SEQ
  • Peugeot 308 TCR
  • VW Golf GTI TCR SEQ
  • Honda Civic FK7 TCR
  • Hyundai i30N TCR

All drivers competing in the Kumho Cup will still collect points, fight for the overall honours, and enter every weekend with the opportunity to fight amongst a highly competitive field at a fraction of the regular cost.

The Kumho Cup winner, along with the overall title winner, will also receive a unique overseas TCR opportunity in 2026. More details on these prizes will be announced in due course. Round winners of the Kumho Cup will also be celebrated throughout the season.

Expressions of interest can be submitted directly to category manager, Lisa Totani, with full series information also available – lisa@australia.tcr-series.com

Round one of the 2025 TCR Australia Series makes history when the series heads overseas for the first time, at the ITM Taupō Super 440 from April 11-13 in New Zealand.
