Motorsport Australia has opened applications for the 2026 SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries (Level 1).
Under the wider Girls on Track framework, the SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries will run a multi-tiered work experience format for the first time globally in a prominent motorsport category, and offers young women aged 18-22 a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in motorsport event management throughout the 2026 Shannons SpeedSeries season.
In partnership with SRO Motorsports Australia and Motorsport Australia, the SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries will immerse participants in the fast-paced world of professional motorsport.
The FIA Girls on Track Empower Program will run at all six Shannons SpeedSeries events including at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, The Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway and Sandown International Raceway, offering invaluable behind-the-scenes access and insights into a world-class motorsport event.
Four young women will be selected for each event and will have the opportunity to experience a variety of roles rotating through corporate hospitality, media, motorsport operations and coordination positions.
Level 1 participants will gain experience through a variety of roles across a live motorsport event.
Following the successful delivery of the Girls on Track – SRO Empower Level 1 program at 2025 Shannons SpeedSeries events, one 2025 participant will be selected to step into a Level 2 Peer Mentor role for the 2026 season.
The Level 2 Peer Mentor will be a leader, a point of contact, and a support person for new participants, while continuing to build practical experience in a professional motorsport environment.
The role is suited to participants interested in event management, operations, media, hospitality, and leadership and a genuine goal to work full-time in Motorsport in the future.
Motorsport Australia officially opened Level 2 applications last week with further announcements about allocation of positions to be announced shortly.
For the full range of positions and roles available, head to the information page for more details.
Motorsport Development Manager Charlie Barlow expressed her excitement in having the SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries return in 2026.
“Programs like SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries provides hands-on experience in a professional environment and facilitates exposure to roles that are often unseen,” Barlow said.
“Motorsport Australia is proud to continue working with SRO Motorsports Australia to deliver meaningful opportunities across SpeedSeries in what is expected to be one of the biggest years to date for the category.”
SRO Head of Business Development Abi Hay outlined the program will have great benefits for successful applicants.
“The SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries offers participants invaluable access to the inner workings of a major motorsport series,” Hay said.
“From a range of operational roles, the experiences on offer are broad, immersive and practical.
“We’ve seen how impactful this program can be for career development. The opportunities for learning and growth are massive.”
Each participant will work across four days per event, from setup day through the race weekend, maximising their learning and exposure to all aspects of event execution.
Head to the program information page for the full list of event locations and relevant dates.

The FIA Girls on Track – SRO Empower program is open to young women living in the same state where the event is being held. This allows applicants in each state an equal opportunity to participate in this program without incurring travel costs.
Entry for these exclusive opportunities are limited, with selections based on the quality of submissions.
To apply, applicants must submit a resume and cover letter via the application form, obtain a Motorsport Australia Officials Licence and complete the General Officials Training Module.
Applications for the 2026 SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries Level 1 close on 20 February.
