Lachlan Mineeff has moved inside the top five of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia standings with a consistent weekend in Round 3 of the series at Winton.
Mineeff qualified his Equipment Dynamics/Southern Cross Truck Rentals/Vagparts Australia/Otis Kiama/Forza Brakes Audi RS3 fifth-fastest in the first qualifying session, earning a berth in Qualifying 2. However, while he improved his lap time in the second segment, so did his rivals and he slipped to ninth.
““The first half of qualifying was awesome, we ended up 4th; but for the second half which sets the grid, we made a small tyre strategy error which compromised our lap speed – it’s all learning and hindsight is a great thing,” Mineeff said.
In the first race, Mineeff finished eighth after a spirited battle with Ben Bargwanna.
“Ben and I had a really fun dice – I held him off for most of the race, but he passed me a couple of laps before the end,” Mineeff said.

Starting third on the grid for Race 2 courtesy of the top 10 inversion, Mineeff was shuffled back a few places early on, but his Audi came on strongly towards the end of the race and he finished fourth.
The final race was a similar story, with the Purple Sector Audi maintaining a consistent pace over the entire 18 laps, enabling Mineeff to make up some late positions to finish fifth.
The results saw Mineeff finishing fifth for the weekend and also moving up to fifth in the series points.
The Southern Highlands driver paid tribute to his team for their efforts in setting up the car.
“We had a new engineer this weekend, who brought some fresh ideas to our car setup philosophy,” Mineeff said.
“We made a lot of changes throughout the weekend and ended up with a car that had very strong race pace, which is why we were making up positions towards the end of Races 2 and 3.
“To be honest, we didn’t expect Winton to be a particularly strong track for the Audi, so to come away with a top five result and improve our position in the standings is a great outcome.
“All the remaining tracks on the calendar will be far better suited to us, and I’m really looking forward to the next round at Queensland Raceway with its big braking zones – braking is one of our key strengths,” Mineeff concluded.
The Queensland Raceway TCR round will be held from 11-13 August.
