The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship is set to see driver surnames and larger numbers present on car windscreens.

As presented in the latest 2021 Operations Manual, regarding Operations Rules, surnames will be required to be presented on windscreens.

The driver’s surname, which also sits at its traditional spot on the side window, will be present on the top left corner of the windscreen from 2021.

The car number, on the top right corner of the windscreen, has increased to 200mm in height.

The surname will be 110mm high, and will be located 20mm in from the driver’s side and 20mm below the upper front windscreen band.

Surnames will be written in white font, the same as the side windows.

The first presentation of the windscreen surnames came at last week’s rookie test for Erebus Motorsport.

On Wednesday, teams hit the track at Phillip Island for car shakedowns and corporate ride days.

There, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Kelly Grove Racing, Tickford Racing, and the Blanchard Racing Team all ran cars with windscreen surnames present.

“In testing, what we wanted to do was make the car number more visible and clearly call out the driver that’s in the car,” Supercars CEO Sean Seamer told select media on Thursday.

“It’s actually a request that’s come form our broadcast partners and some views, so they can more easily identify the specific car and driver.

“As the cars evolve the numbers get smaller and smaller as we’ve got less real estate to put them on.”

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the Repco Mt Panorama 500.
