The 49th Historic Winton on 30th and 31st May at Winton Motor Raceway (near Benalla) is set to be another thrill-a-minute experience for all ages with historic car racing, parades, automotive market, the Shannons car park and heritage displays.
Austin 7 Club member and event manager John Kessner said that more than 200 cars from the 1920s to the 1980s will put on a race spectacle and more than 300 invited anniversary marques and heritage vehicles will be showcased.

“This is a great event for families because kids 17 and under are free, but they still need a ticket,” John said. “Parents and grandparents have a great time showing their grandkids the cars from their youth and watching the amazed looks on their faces.
“The selfie opportunities are endless, especially as this is a rare event where visitors are able to visit the competition paddock to view the race cars and meet the competitors.
John said that the Austin 7 Club’s very special Trevor Cole race car will be on site for the express purpose of selfies.
“Family is so much part of the Historic Winton culture that since 1993, the Firth Motors Family Trophy has been awarded to families involved in racing or volunteering at the event,” he said.
A first for this year’s Historic Winton is that a free shuttle bus will carry families and all attendees from Benalla Station to Winton Motor Raceway on both days of the event.

“Melbourne spectators need to catch the 7:07am train at Southern Cross Station and our shuttle will be awaiting them,” John said.
“We recommend that local and more distant spectators by their tickets online in advance which will save time at the gate and save them $5 per ticket.”
Winton Motor Raceway’s Huntley Gate opens at 7am each day. The Saturday program starts at 9am including practice laps. The Sunday program commences at 8:45am.
Campers need to enter the trackside camping ground via Wattle Creek Road.
