Brad Jones Racing kicked off the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 weekend with mixed fortunes on the streets of Surfers Paradise.
A small error proved costly in Practice 2 when Bryce Fullwood was caught out at the Beach Chicane and made contact with the wall on exit.
The incident brought out the first red flag of the session.
Fortunately, Fullwood was uninjured, and the #14 Shure Racing Camaro will be repaired overnight and ready to race tomorrow.
Andre Heimgartner was relatively pleased with his pace in the R&J Batteries Camaro, finishing 14th in both practice sessions.
He’s confident there’s more to come as he continues to chase a couple of tenths heading into tomorrow morning’s qualifying session.
The SCT Motorsport crew made setup changes after Practice 1, helping Jaxon Evans find a better balance in the car and finish 16th in Practice 2.
Meanwhile, Macauley Jones and his team will spend the evening analysing data to identify areas for improvement ahead of Saturday’s sessions.
Cars roll out for Qualifying at 11:00am AEST tomorrow.

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro
“Just chipping away, trying to work on few things and getting there slowly. Just got to work on the green tyre. Right now, it’s hard to stitch together. But apart from that, happy with today’s practice.”
Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Shure Racing Camaro
“Obviously a sad way to end Friday, really sorry to the boys and everyone who worked so hard to prep the cars for this weekend. Just pushing really hard and got it wrong a little bit. But I feel like the car is actually quite fast, and I feel pretty happy with where it’s at. Would have been nice to see where we would have ended up at the end of p2 on a new tyre. Fortunately, the car’s not too bad, and the boys, the A Team, are fixing it. It won’t be long, and it’ll be already fixed and ready to rock and roll for tomorrow.
Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro
“My day was a bit average. I feel a little bit lost with it, just trying to figure out the chicanes. Feel like the car was pretty loose for me, which is making it hard to pinpoint. I feel like I just need that reset overnight and go through some of the footage and the data. I think we can make improvements in the car and in myself as well. So just get a bit more confidence for the kerb usage. I feel like sometimes I’m going to the moon.”
Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro
“Always good to be back on the streets of the Gold Coast. Obviously, pretty chaotic track two 30 minute sessions, didn’t feel like a lot of time to get up to speed. Starting to find a little bit of direction, so comfortable with where we are at. A bit of driving to improve, and then hopefully have a crack, keep it off the walls in qualifying tomorrow and see how we end up”
