Friday Report, 2025 Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 Surfers Paradise, QLD. Friday 24 October 2025

TRADIE Energy Racing’s David Reynolds has finished fourth fastest in final practice for the 2025 Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, as the Supercars Championship roared to life on the streets of Surfers Paradise.

Sporting his eye-catching TRADIE nude race suit and pink helmet in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Reynolds showed strong pace throughout Friday’s sessions. After placing ninth in the opening run, the 2017 Bathurst winner climbed to fourth in Practice 2 as he pushed the limits through the tight Turn 1–2 and beach chicanes.

Cub Cadet Racing’s Anton De Pasquale also enjoyed a productive opening day, finishing 11th and 10th across the two sessions as he tuned his Chevrolet ahead of the first round of the Supercars Finals Series. Entering the weekend seventh in the standings, De Pasquale focused on fine-tuning balance and building confidence on the resurfaced Surfers Paradise circuit, where the new soft tyre has brought a surge in grip and lap speed.

Saturday’s schedule features knockout qualifying from 11:00am AEST, followed by the Top Ten Shootout at 12:35pm and Race 28 at 3:15pm (85 laps). All the action will be live on Channel 7, Fox Sports and Kayo.

“Friday done here at the Gold Coast. Crazy place to drive a race car around, it’s heaps of fun. A lot of time spent on two wheels through the back chicane, and with the new tyre and resurfacing, the pace is super fast and you’re pushing crazy hard.

“Heaps of fun, both sessions around 10th, so we’re there or thereabouts. It’s very tight, just a few little tune-ups and we’ll be right.”

“Day one at the Gold Coast, just practice today, two half-hour sessions. I’m sitting here thinking, what are we doing? It’s actually stupid what we’re trying to achieve out there. It’s a lot different to last year, they had restrictions through the chicanes, but now they’ve been removed and it’s a mixture of bravery and stupidity to do the fastest lap time. Generally, the dumber you are, the faster you go, and we were fourth dumbest today!

“All in all, we rolled out really strong. My car was in the window straight away, and we made it a little better and a little worse here and there. We’ll have a look at the data and come back swinging for qualifying tomorrow. Super soft tyre, so anything can happen. I can’t wait for it.”
