“It was a tough day for us today. I screwed up in qualifying on a good lap which meant we unfortunately didn’t get into the shootout. In the race, unfortunately we got stuck behind (David) Reynolds on strategy and couldn’t really get past him. The car wasn’t too bad, but we just didn’t have enough pace to drive through the field, and we ended up P7. The car doesn’t feel too bad after the day it had. I think we have a little bit of tuning to do, but I think it would’ve been a different story if we could’ve jumped Reynolds in the pits. Overall, it wasn’t a great day, but not a bad day either.”

“Making my first shootout appearance and getting my first podium here on the Gold Coast is awesome. We rolled into qualifying and in the first lap we were P1 or P2, so it was great to stay in the ten for the rest of the session. In the shootout, I was a little bit conservative through the beach chicane, but I’ve always said you can win the race from the first two rows on the grid, so P4 was ok. Although we didn’t maximise the shootout, it was so good to make it, and hopefully we can do it all over again tomorrow. I actually had no idea I was on the podium when I crossed the finish line after today’s race, so I was stoked. It’s great to get a surfboard because it’s a trophy I’ve been chasing for a while because it’s my home race. We really struggled in the middle stint because we were really slow, but we’ll look into that because in the last stint we were the fastest car out there. Overall, I think if we can take forward what we had in the last stint there, we can fight for the win tomorrow.”
