DEWALT Racing’s Mark Winterbottom and TRADIE Beer Racing’s David Reynolds have hit the track at Sydney Motorsport Park for practice ahead of this weekend’s Sydney Supernight, finishing 14th and 20th in the first and only practice session of the weekend.
With 90 minutes at their disposal, the team progressed through an intensive practice program focussing on their race setup, with two 51 lap races ahead of them on Saturday and Sunday.
As Team 18 prepares for qualifying sessions and the upcoming races, the focus remains on fine-tuning the cars to maximise their performance under the challenging conditions of the Sydney circuit at night.
With valuable data gathered during practice, both Winterbottom and Reynolds are optimistic about making significant improvements and showcasing their competitive edge tomorrow.
Team 18 hit the track tomorrow at Sydney Motorsport Park for Qualifying at 2:50pm, the Top 10 Shootout at 4:55pm and Race 15 at 7:35pm. All the action can be viewed live on Fox Sports and Kayo. Check your local guides for further details.

Practice 1: 14th
“ Pretty tough session, but there’s traits of the car I really like and there’s traits of the car I really dislike, so we’ll try and keep the good bits and improve the bad bits and I think if we can do that, we’re going to be up the front.
“The car’s there, but often you change one thing and you lose your strength and gain another, so we just have to understand it a bit more.
“The night time was really cold, so to get the tyres turned on was really hard. I think we’ll take away some definitely good things from today and try and qualify well tomorrow, but night time is difficult to get our cars working, the temperature and the UV and the lights and all that sort of stuff makes it very hard to switch a tyre on, but, good data for tomorrow.”

Practice 2: 20th
“It wasn’t a bad day, 90 minute session. Overall, we just don’t have enough pace in our car, it’s hard to turn the tyre on and get the most out of it.
“In the session we tried some ergo stuff at the start that we had to reverse, which maybe cost us a bit of time. We rifled some changes and we improved the car and got it better to drive, but we’re still a little bit off the pace, and we missed the last run because something broke in the rear end.
“All in all, we had a really good debrief just then, had a good discussion, and I think we’ve got some ideas to make the car better.”
