MEDIA RELEASE/Racing Together – Photo: supplied
Racing Together is a programme designed to help young Indigenous Australian participate in motorsport as mechanics, engineers, even drivers!
Its ultimate objective is to teach these young boys and girls skills that will lead them to secure careers in motorsport or its associated industries.
Based at Queensland Raceway near Ipswich, Racing Together is looking for new team members for 2024. With that in mind, it will be conducting a weekend of candidate evaluation on October 14 and 15.
Over the Saturday and Sunday, candidates will be tested in the areas of basic manual dexterity, potential driving ability, social and interview skills and hand-eye coordination.
The weekend is designed to be fun, with all candidates having the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a car and a gokart plus participate in other activities.
The Saturday session will be conducted at Queensland Raceway and the Sunday session at Norwell Motorplex, in Logan. A bus will transport candidates from the Logan area to Queensland Raceway and return, on the Saturday and another will transport Ipswich area candidates from Ipswich to Logan and return on Sunday.
The Open Days are free and available to boys and girls aged 13 to 18. Registration is compulsory and numbers are limited. Registration is available via the Racing Together website www.racingtogether.org
