Australia’s representatives at the FIA Motorsport Games have marched proudly in Marseille ahead of the second edition of the international event.

This year 72 countries and 463 athletes will be in action, including Australia’s eight competitors across seven disciplines.

Team Captain Stephen Grove, who won a bronze medal with Brenton Grove at the Games in 2019, was proud to see an expanded Australian team at this year’s FIA Motorsport Games.

“To represent your country is such a privilege, to carry the flag was pretty special, it’s super exciting,” Grove said.

“The games have grown so much from 2019 in Rome, it’s much bigger now. To come back and try and have another go, especially with Brenton and the rest of the team is really exciting.

“The standard of drivers through all the categories, the level is as good as anywhere in the world.”

Touring Car representative Aaron Cameron, who competes in the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series was also just as excited to be in France wearing the famous ‘green and gold’.

“It was really good to walk up on the stage with the Australian team and represent my country,” Cameron said.

Asked if he had heard from his fellow TCR drivers, Cameron said he had received plenty of support and encouragement from his Australian cohort.

“At least half the field sent me a message so far and said ‘good luck’ and emphasising that they wanted to be here and be the Australian representative and that I must bring home a medal.

“There’s a fair bit of pressure from home, which is fine, and I’m hoping I can do them all proud and do TCR Australia justice.”

The on track action begins on Friday 28 October, with all medals awarded based on final races on Saturday and Sunday.

The event will be streamed across a wide range of platforms, with further details to come.
